Artist Nicholas Tay | Tay's mixed media art work revolves around the theme of contemporary immigrant identity. In his current series, Amateur Cartography, identity and the clash of cultures is explored through a visual dialogue between representation and abstraction. Tay is based in Vancouver, Hong Kong and Singapore.

I'm excited to announce my next solo show at Massy Books Art Gallery. Located at 229 E. Georgia St, Vancouver, BC, from April 17th to May 24th 2021. I'll be showing a selection of paint and photographic work from my Amateur Cartography series. This series has taken four years and is extremely close to my heart. For me, Amateur Cartography is a visual exploration of immigrant identity. What it is when one idea arrives upon another idea and the destruction and beauty that occurs in the dialogue.
